Adult Orthodontic Patients Recommend Treatment to Other Adults

A survey was conducted on behalf of the American Association of Orthodontists and it queried individuals who, as adults, had orthodontic treatment provided by orthodontists.

The results were overwhelmingly positive. A whopping 92% of respondents claimed “newfound self-confidence” after completing care with an orthodontist, a specialist, and declared they would recommend orthodontic treatment to other adults. A large number of respondents, 75%, reported improvements in career or personal relationships, which they attributed to their post-orthodontic treatment smile.

The survey also addressed common concerns among adults regarding orthodontic care, such as “What will others think?”, “How will I look?”, and “Am I too old?”. A large majority of respondents had these or similar concerns prior to treatment, but stated that these concerns faded once orthodontic treatment commenced.

The AAO summed up their survey results: “This survey validates that a healthy, beautiful smile can be a critical factor when it comes to personal and professional success. Adults are seeking treatment in record numbers and we encourage anyone, at any age, to consult an orthodontist to learn if they could benefit from treatment. It’s never too late to move healthy teeth.”
Orthodontists are specialists that receive years of additional, specialized education and training after dental school. People of all ages seek out orthodontists for their expertise in developing effective treatment plans that employ a full range of treatment types, straightening teeth, and aligning the bite.
